PIXIO Pixel Studio
Need help or found a bug? Email post@bitfarm.no and tell us what you were doing and what happened. Include your device and iOS version if you can; the app’s version is shown in the credits sheet.
Drawing
- Pick a canvas of 8×8, 16×16, 32×32 or 64×64 pixels. Switching size is lossless in both directions: the picture is always kept at 64×64, and a coarser size paints and shows whole blocks.
- Tools: pencil, eraser, flood fill and colour picker. Turn on horizontal, vertical or both symmetry to mirror your strokes, and use flip and rotate to transform the whole layer.
- The colours already in your picture sit under the colour wheel as a quick palette. The picker also has a 132-colour grid, a saturation/brightness panel and a hue slider.
- Each frame has its own layers: add, reorder, hide and delete them. Every layer keeps 50 steps of undo and redo.
Gestures
- One finger paints.
- Two fingers pan, and pinch to zoom around your fingers.
- Two-finger tap undoes; three-finger tap redoes.
- Tap the zoom percentage to jump back to 100 % centred.
Animating
- Switch to Animating mode for the frame timeline. Duplicate and delete frames, and play back at 1–60 frames per second.
- Onion skin shows the neighbouring frames underneath the current one; adjust its opacity to taste.
Saving and exporting
- PNG: saves the current frame as a 2048×2048 image to your photo library. The first time, iOS asks for permission to add photos; PIXIO never reads your existing photos.
- GIF: exports the whole animation as a looping 512×512 GIF and opens the share sheet, so you can send it to Messages, save it to Files, or share it anywhere else.
- Your artwork stays on your device; see the privacy policy.
Music
Background music is optional and silent until you choose a song in the music panel. The app remembers your choice and volume. The songs are bundled with the app; their creators are listed in the credits sheet.
